You could have saved yourself 500 bucks and bought silicone hoses and put them on yourself, really easy job.
700 bucks for a few hoses is pretty excessive
Hi All
The Tardis went into limp mode on Saturday night, I spun around and took it home, called road service to book a flat top for Monday morning. I got to drive Ralph for 3 days which was a bonus. Got it dropped of to the dealer Monday morning, got it back tonight, all 3 turbo hoses had cracks or hairline fractures in them. $711.40 laterand it's back on the road.
Intercooler hose, $81.41
Intercooler Hose $126.56
Air inlet hose $100.75
Labour $338.00
GST. $ 64.67
Nice work if you can get it.

Well the Tardis is back at the dealers, after $711 and 30km later its in limp mode again. Now they tell me that the air flow sensor is faulty ,$245.00 and its gotta come from melbourne, i almost cracked the ****s with them yesterdaywhen they tried to defend the previous invoice. They have had the car since thursday morning and only called me late friday arvo to tell me i cant have it back till monday night at the earliest. They nicely offered to only charge for the parts though😡

This is why I have a total lack of faith in mechanics, especially the dealership boys. It is nothing at all to them to charge you $700 to do something other than fix the problem. They are just playing a guessing game with no real intimate knowledge of the vehicle systems.
You should have done your nut at them, sadly it is the only thing that they understand. Decades ago I worked in the industry and I know that a customer who was difficult to deal with and who would make life unpleasant if things weren't right, was the one who got the best work; the manager will ride the machanic's back to make it right because he doesn't want to suffer another tirade.
Well, I got it back last night, so far so good. $270 for the MAF sensor. I had a go at them and they said we can book an appointment with the service manager for you, but what's the point. I ran a service dept myself (in hvac-r industry) for 14 years and I know how they work, I can't prove the hoses were not split and they cant prove they were as they have been tossed out now. They usually call me a day or two after and ask me if I am happy with the service, like last week I will let them know I am not in the least bit happy and will probably take the car elsewhere from now on, as IMHO their service people are just parts changers and not the competent mechanics they say they are (I haven't seen anything yet that convinces me anyway). We have this problem in our industry as well, some guys don't either have a clue or care, so they just keep changing parts until the problem goes away. They also send me a survey after each job done inviting me to share my views with the dealership and LR Australia, so there might be a few choice observations in there. As a mechanic i know says, all the dumb ****s go to the dealers and do services and recalls, whilst the good mechanics stay with the smaller companies and do real work.

You see the problem with this diagnosis:
all 3 turbo hoses had cracks or hairline fractures in them.
Is cracked hoses leak pressure - which squeels like a banshee.
Just for ****s and giggles loosen the most accessible hose clamp you can find on the induction system and take it for a drive... You WILL hear the leak...
Of course it may throw a MAF signal with low 02 or some such but leaking boost makes leaking noises.
If me I would demand to see the "perished hoses" or full refund on the $700

Yeah I've had a turbo hose go before so I know what they sound like When they go but after 9 to 10 years definitely not only three year and it screamed it's nuts off when it split. I couldn't hear a thing but I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but GUESS WHAT, it just went into limp mode again 70km and 24 hrs later. Lasted a bit longer this time, so it's back to the dealers!!!!!!NOT HAPPY JAN!!
