Try giving TRS a call in Adelaide for a second hand motor.
I got one for my D2 off them. Very happy with how it runs.
Cheers, Chris

Hi everyone, my 2002 TD5 had an oil pump drop a bolt and come to a squealing holt. Unfortunately I wasn't driving at the time with one of the kids L plates on the much loved Defender.
After lots of phone calls to lots of people I've come to the realization that we live in a throw away society that also throws TD5 engines away instead of fixing them . So getting one is impossible and the alternatives are as far as I can tell are paying 8-9K for a reco or a second hand engine with 250,000 kms . I spoke to Landrover and they sell new ones for 12K but that's a hard pill to swallow.
Has anyone got any suggestions?? Motors that would fit etc?
380,000 kilometres and out shone any work horse I've ever had. Maybe its time for a new horse but my daughter wants that one
Cheers

unfortunately Nemo it sounds like your TD5 didn't have a shockable rhythm, so the defibrillator wouldn't have been of any use.
Sorry for your asystole and therefore loss, sounds like the only treatment is a heart transplant.
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
Pm Outback 1 he wrecks D2`s and he is in vic i think he has a Td5 for sale

This was a trick question!
A TD5 is a diesel, a defibrillator will only work on a petrol engine because the diesels run on a compression ignition cycle not via an electrical impulse spark (that could be rectified by a defibrillator).

Yes a diesel but with an ECU so it could be a generalised seizure, perhaps consider some anticonvulsants
