    Maxi Drive flanges.

I want to fit some good drive flanges to the rear of my 2012 130. Can I still get Maxi Drive? If so, who sells them? Are there other brands on the market these days that are just as good?

By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

Maxi-Drive flanges are now Hi-Tough Engineering flanges and surprise they are still made by the same bloke (Barry Ward) as made them for Mal Story.

They are available in lots of places like MR Automotive, Graeme Cooper Automotive and Les Richmond Automotive.

Or you can look HTE up on the yellow pages or Google

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Yes of course - I just had a little brain holiday there. I had bought them before when they were Maxi Drive and they were very good so I'll stick with them. I just ordered some Hi-tuff flanges.

You can get them from RoverParts Plus too. They stock the true heavy duty ones. Be careful because some look like the hi-tuff but arn't.

I try to use HTE when ever I can, not just to support Aussie manufacture, but because of the support you can get direct from HTE itself.

Barry (and Mal Story) have made me special axles to fit stage 1 CVs to the front of a SIIB Forward control, Barry also made axles in the correct length for ENV diffs on the rear of an SIIB. More recently I was able to get some special flanges so I could convert the drum brake rear ends on my 6X6 Defender to disks without having to change track or halfshafts.

So I recommend HTE both for quality and for the support.

    Buy Australian!

    Thumbs up HTE & MD

When I fitted my Maxidrive I had the good fortune to go to MD and meet Mal Story and chat to him. It's great that HTE has carried on, and see them get a good wrap on the forum. I will be returning there for any future drive line upgrades, it's good to support aussie engineering and manufacturing.
