I got the Engine Blanket from NKGroup, and it made a significant difference.

By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

Bunnings anti vibration matting works great on the flat surfaces under seats and floor quietened the TDI big cab down, now I worry I won't be able to hear what's going on before something explodes
Noticed in Tamworth the other day bigger sheets 1mx1m? selling as kids playground mat looked much the same

I have to do something soon, the OE mats in the Tdi have finally fallen apart, and with the new Maxi Drive low range gears howling quietly in the background, I'm over the cacophony.

There's quite a few threads on here of what different people have done, the poor old Deefer needs something, too many flat, uninsulated surfaces.

Ok. Bit of an update. I had a chance to put a few mile on the car. Ive got it hot towing the camper and I have to say that the interior noise levels are very much lower. And the heat is much lower. But I'll wait till summer to comment on the heat properly as it's hard to say without the high ambient summer temps.
But so far very impressed and worth every penny on noise alone.
The previous owner had made a point of telling me he had a sound kit fitted by the dealership when he bought it new. I pulled off the tar panels and in comparison they are absolute rubbish. Even my wife has noticed the difference.
Well worth doing, and looks factory neat.

8/10. Would be 10/10 except for price.
