Make sure the angle you have them when fixed to the rack itself gives the right amount of clearance to the roof. They can tend to lay over on an angle and get "too" close to the roofline.
Also put a nice piece of rubber under the foot on the gutter as this helps it to not slip out.
Had the wonderful experience on the Turn River track when mine slipped out and stopped the driver door from opening. Lucky my companion was there to lift it or I would have been climbing out the window to fix it.
