Its an anti shunt, anti lag function and does a great job in keeping the turbo spooled that little bit more between shifts...
Some however, do seem to hold a bit longer than others...
Pull the plug on the clutch switch with get rid of this useless feature.
The throttle has a delay regardless of the clutch. When you lift off the throttle in gear, there is still a short delay until it cuts fuel to the engine.Quote:

Yes, they show up poor drivers pretty quickly 😜.
Its all normal for the 2.2 though, people just need to learn to drive them.
A bit like the old Macks, they'll hunt in first gear unless you get into the trottle
If youw ant to disable it on the puma you have to bridge the connection in the clutch switch. its opposite the Td5.
it gets jerky at low speeds though. Might be better with a tune through it that fixes the throttle mapping?
So the switch needs to be bridged I knew it was one way or the other. Loveb is yours bridged or not? Road testing yours the other day and it was not bad less clunky then most. But at the end of the day its a bit sad that my 300tdi can be punted throu the gears no clunks no bangs even by the missus maybe were just **** drivers it wouldent be the pumas fault.
No not bridged on mine. I bridged it a long while back but found it was extremly jerky at low revs so I just took it off and lived with it.
I did have the PCM updated at one point and never looked back. Theres times when it seems to not know how much throttle input I really want lol.
apparently its how the throttle is mapped out. hence why I'm guessing a remap will probably iron that out.
I got the BAS2 remap (170HP with Alloysport intercooler) and it made huge differences to the driving experience, but not to the "hanging revs" on gear changes. I didn't ask for anything to be done to that though, so maybe it's something you can ask for and have removed. It doesn't bother me too much.

I have driven many different types of 'vehicles', including real trucks! And Ford Transit vans where the engine (type) is also used. And in all of these, I have never experienced an ECU 'write' that holds the revs like the 'op's post is about.
As for turbo lag... well on the Puma, this is pretty minimal anyway because the turbo is quite small with minimal spool up time.
It's easy to adapt to this 'characteristic' as have many. That is not an issue and it does not bother me now. However I too wonder what benefit it adds to the ease of driving or experience... and I don't see one either! :)
