Mine does this, think it's a "normal" puma thing to help those who can't change gears, change gears. I'm used to it now
I seem to have a bit of an issue guys. 2011, 2.4, approx 120,000 klms
Taking off in first, second, and then sometimes in third, when I lift my foot off the throttle and clutch it, she stays at the same revs for a couple of seconds.
Having searched high and low, the only thread I can find relates to this problem being to do with blinkers and fuses. Well, I've done a check on all mine, and everything there seems good.
I've cleaned the MAP and MAF sensors, to which the problem only "sort" of went away, but still did it most of the time, and now of course it's back all the time.
Any ideas guys?

Check the fuse for your brake lights.
Thanks guys, I've read the whole thread, including the link in there to the other forum, and at this point, the only thing I can gain from all that is the EGR valve, which on mine, is playing up,, well, I think it is. Its certainly become very noisy.
Tim, I'll recheck the lights fuse, but on initial inspection, I found nothing abnormal. Maybe I missed it, but I pulled out a 1/2 dozen fuses which were all intact.
Marcus my 2.25 2013 holds revs for @ 2 secs to assist gear changes
I'm assured that it's normal.

There is a huge amount written about this 'characteristic' which is indeed 'normal' on the Puma. Have a search on Defender2.net
In my view, it is a complete PITA! I have never driven a car, or needed a car, that has this feature to help with gear changes! It just gets in the way IMHO!
I learnt how to 'drive around' the feature after a while... if you change gear at 2700 - 3000 rpm, and are 'soft' when letting the clutch out, it seems to smooth out the entire jerky rev hanging process.
If I were to ever get a BAS or Alive Tuning upgrade, it would primarily be to get rid of this rev hold thingy!
Hummm, I beg to differ about the "is a Puma thing".
I'm on my third ECU, and have never had this issue before. If it's there by design, it must have suited my driving style as I've never had any problems like this except during the first week or so of starting to drive it. Mind you, not sure sitting at the lights, putting it in reverse and scaring the crap out of the guy behind me counts. However I did after almost 15 + years of driving an auto make some pretty crappy changes
The rev holding now has only started in the last 3 weeks, and IMO is not a "normal" attribute of the car. The only thing that I noticed this morning was having just used over half a tank, I've done almost 400k'sNormally I'd have done around the 300k or maybe even a tad under.
I'm wondering if the EGR has either stopped working as such, or actually maybe "started" working.
The reason the first ECU was changed, was because sitting at the lights, the motor started to shake so to speak, but the motor itself still sounded sweet, and didn't change in revs at all. So the dealer swapped it out.
Late last week, this happened again. I don't know if it's all connected or not, but I suspect I might be up for another trip to the Dyno again to see if he can find out what's going on.
Well, what you are describing then is different to the 'rev holding' that I have experienced on all new Puma's I have driven in the last 12 months... and thats about 8 vehicles, all of which held the revs up for a few seconds... Mind you, these have all been 2.2 models...
I will be most interested if you can get to the bottom of this one because I find it a very annoying feature, but I have now learnt to live with it! LOL!
