Bacicat - I took my info from when I looked at them when they first arrived in Oz and a new Foton which is currently advertised on Carsales.

Then there was this from a road test report.-

Q - It is also not offered with traction or stability control

Correct, but it does come with EBD and a whole host of other goodies. My main reason for my reply was to point out IMO that it was good value for money. We can always disagree, no problems there.

Here's my two bobs worth.. The Mahindra's look really ugly, and depreciate massively. I wouldn't own one. The Fotons are even worse.. Have a large farm locally who thought it a wise idea to buy several for the workers.. Two got written off, and the other two stand idle because the speedos snot work, the lights fail and no one wants to drive them. They're using the original clapped out Cruisers the Fotons replaced. Great Walls... Been to a few serious Road Crash Rescues where Great Walls have been involved.. All I can say is they are impressive structurally.. One was in a serious roll, and all 4 doors opened and all occupants got out without injury. If I was in your boat, I'd buy a Td5 110 or 130. Characterful, retains its value, fixable and re saleable. And if all options are exhausted, then there's always a Cummins powered 101!!!! (Cummins camp here)!

I am now considering either a 101, a Perentie 6x6 or the 4x4, but to be honest the 4x4 is too small but they look great fun, I might have to sneak one on the farm while the missus is not looking as well as the bigger truck whatever I get.

    Good idea Chris. Don't buy a 101!

Leve's more for me to choose from.

Mate... Not sure if the budget is there...

Talk to your accountant on an Amarok Core... $38k Drive away...

Far better ride, safer, and likely to be worth some coin at the end...

Back to considering the curry mobile again, I cant find a decent 130 and I need another car. I have spoke to a few people who own them and they report trouble free motoring even one that is getting VERY abused and missing many services. I need to drive one and see how it handles. I am thinking to get a used one if possible to limit depreciation a bit, but in the end if you keep it over 5 or 10 years depreciation probably wont be a worry anyway you can afford to throw it away.
Would I prefer a 130 in good condition for the same money with low km hell yes, but I also want a car before I get old waiting and there seems to be a bit of a Defender silly season on right now some think their old junk is worth a fortune and it simply is not.
