    Tough dog Ralphs on 110

Hello defrienders, I was in the market for tough dog Ralph big bore shock absorbers for my 2003 110, as I wanted something solid I could rely on over corrugation when I load up and take the family out bush with the camper trailer. My local 4wd shop said they would not suit the 110 as its not a heavy vehicle and the ride around town would be too hard. He claims they are a heavy vehicle shockie. Im taking his advice on board but I'm wondering if anyone on here has fit these to their Landie and what is their comment on them. What would sticking these ones on do to the ride and handling. I am a novice on suspension but am sticking with tough dog as I'm getting a good price on them.

I had tough dogs fitted to our Dmax when we did the suspension upgrade. I ended up replacing the front ones with Pedders shocks and found it gave a much better ride.

Not that I'm recommending Pedders just that I wasn't impressed with the Tough Dogs.

I've had those shocks and a steering damper fitted to my D1 in the past.
Absolute garbage they were. Didn't even last me three years!

I would say they were shocking, but that's just a really bad pun...............

Are those people that are rubbishing the Tough Dogs referring to the Ralph or the foam cell model? The construction of the Ralph is different to the foam cell and sometimes the criticisms can be misleading if the incorrect product is the subject.

And yes if the criticisms are directed to the foam cell models I concur, once they overheat they are effective as cooked spaghetti. Can't speak for Ralph i moved to Dobinsons after the TD foam cell.

Mine were foam cell I believe. My comment was more in relation for a similar price I thought the Pedders were better and I had only done about 30,000km on the Tough dogs when I replaced them. The bushes wore out quite quickly and had to be replaced on all shocks as well.

My experience was such that I wouldn't look at Tough Dog again but each to their own.
