    I've been thinking of my 110 as a woman for a while now, probably something to do with the association of boats as being female.

    And I think it came to me on the drive to work this morning, as I was listening to my favourite album (Themata by Karnivool), I think I'm going to call her "Alice", which would be appropriate if you consider taking the route less travelled, or going off road, as down the rabbit hole.

    Mine is "Clyde" as in Clydesdale because he is definitely my work horse.
    Naturally, the wife's corolla then became "Bonnie".

    Our current Defender 110 was being disposed by the National Grid via a well known British 4x4 auction. It was lot number 101, so we were calling 'her' that. But she was withdrawn from the auction that week because the paperwork had not come through from the National Grid.


    At the next auction it was listed with a different lot number so we were referring to 'her' as under a different lot number. But again she was withdrawn from the auction for the same reason.


    At the third auction she was listed under a third lot number. We bought her, but by this time the name Lottie seemed appropriate!

    We went with "George" thinking it sounded suitably British, bugger me when the royals went and named their new kid after our Defender six months later!

    Love it when friends ask "how is George doing?", "When is George coming around" etc. only makes that smile all the better...

    Currently thinking about getting a project Perentie, she'll be "Mildred".

    Another George here. I had wanted to name one of our boys George, but was overruled both times. So, when we got the Defender, I insisted on calling it George. The Navigator just rolls her eyes...

    My dad kindly named my Defender "The Goose's Turd" because it's white on the top and green on the bottom.

    He's just jealous because he doesn't have a Land Rover any more.

    My Daughter asked me what am I going to call my new 110 , try as we may , we just couldn't think of a name that we liked . Then she said what about " Olive " due to It's colour . So Olive It is !!.. Jim..

    It feels right to name a Land Rover -just as you would name a much loved dog who is an indispensable part of the family. They have such character and you begin to think of them as individuals with personality rather than just machines

    Our 110 is definitely male -A Heavy Duty rigged HCPU is not very feminine! He's tough and capable in the rough, so it had to be 'Hector'.

    Ours is called Betty. After a fat boy with very red cheeks from boarding school - Fettie Betty ( Fettie is fatty in Afrikaans). Betty and I (the one from boarding schools) are still good friends
