    Defender Insurance

Looking at renewing the 90's insurance.

Thinking about all the time & money I've spent on my truck & now they will never be made like what i own. The insurance payout if the truck is written off as market value is total rubbish.

How many, if any have an agreed value on their Defenders?
    Are all the accessories added?
    What is the agreed value?
How much for this type of cover?

    Thanks Members

Agreed value on D4 and new for old on 90 (fat load of good but pays full price)...

    Both with CGU...Covers everything.

    D4 is about $700. The 90 is around $750

Max value for a 2000 td5 130 hcpu is 13k. Glass guide and redbook value. I could not get a big name insurance company to go over this. Even with evidence of a low km and looked after vehicle. Ended up going to shannons. But would only insure using initial purchase price. But will increase it with evidence of improvement after policy has been started. Cost about 150 dollars more to go from 13k to 20k. I tried youi and they did say they would do agreed value but would not list it on policy. Only when you make a claim they would then assess the vehicle against current market value at that time. Too up in the air for me. I did ask what wiuld happen if it is stolen and not recovered how do they assess it then.. she said she will talk to supervisor. Then i was told they would take my word for it .... which really means we will give you your 13k unless you can prove otherwise.

most I could get was $63 K for the 2015 110. Probably doesn't cover all the extras on it.

I just went to a specialised 4wd insurance broker - found me a policy that covers every accessory at an agreed value ($20k north of redbook) and covers anywhere in oz (whether a gazetted road or not). Was cheaper than my previous policy too.

We went with DGA insurance brokers after much internet research. They have a plain english policy which covers us everywhere. Cost was only slightly higher than 'mainstream' companies and underwritten by allianz.
The biggest thing we found when researching was to examine the fine print about off road coverage, it can be enlightening to say the least as to what some class as off road.
