Thread: Charging issues

So I checked behind the dash and found that the connections for a lot of the bulbs on the Dash warning cluster were buggered. Age and rust has taken its toll. Is there a way I can bi-pass the bulb with a piece of wire to get the charging circuit working, as the bulb apparently is a vital piece of the circuit

The quickest and easiest way to fix the charging light is to replace it with another globe and holder. Find a parking light or instrument globe and holder. Wire it between the alternator charge light wire and an ignition on circuit. An auto shop should be able to sell you a globe and holder if you don't have a suitable wreck nearby. A globe around 2 to 5 watts is ideal. Then it gives you the correct operation and can be left that way until you're ready to rewire it properly.
