Got the phone playing via the car blue Tooth ........but when I switch the ignition off the unit comes back on in BT AUDIO mode where it was turned off ......but it says " no unit" ..........so it's not recognising the paired phone .......this would be the worst radio and instructions I have ever encountered .......not what you would call intuitive .......or may be I lack the tech house to understand it

Mine can take a little while to reconnect after leaving the vehicle. Sometimes I jump start the process by pressing play on the phone then it cuts over to the headunit.

    Cheers,
    Ant.

probably got an outdated version of the phone.....

jump back in your delorean or tardis zap back to the future and grab a phone from the same era as the vehicle....

Good to know the deefers good for at least another 899 years.

Yeh ....missed that .......if they were still making defenders in 2915 probably would not have changed much

    smart assery done with...

Not sure if it happens with the Iphone but with my android phone some devices will pair to the phone side of business as default and not the player.

some need me to initiate playback on the phone and the paired device is then just an amp It doesnt matter how I start the play back, by pressing the button on the headphones, the wifi remote or on my vivosmart

some need me to have the phone on and unlocked when the playback device powers up (obviously with the phones bluetooth enabled) and then The playback device has complete control of the phone...

the neighbours car (and it gives him the irrits) needs him to have the stereo on, the phone on and unlocked AND he then has to flick it over to bluetooth recieve AND he has to do all of that before the screen times out on the phone...

I always had issues with this, had to re-connect manually probably 50% of the time. Now it just doesn't connect at all... and I gave up trying to faff with it

So - this happens occasionally. Most of the time it connects quite happily each time I start the car.

If it doesn't connect I will go into the iPhone B-Tooth settings and press Alpine "Not Connected" link and it connects quite happily.

I agree about not being intuitive - it is one of the worst units I have used - with fidly buttons to get to settings and it is not intuitive.

If I am playing music it is better quality for me with the iPhone via USB and "iPod" mode

One thing to note - with iPod mode and USB connection with a iPhone - it plays music as soon as you connect - and the quality is better than BT.

It is a pain if you want the iPhone Maps to give directions via audio - as the music seems to take priority in the iPod mode.

So I move back to BT audio - and keep the phone charged via the ciggie 12v socket.
