Use a 'trim removal tool' (Kingchrome also make nice blue hard plastic set) AND the Phillips Head screwdriver to get these out! Use the tool with the 'U' shaped cutout to slide under the fitting and lever upwards at the same time as gently unscrewing the screw.

These fastenings do have a very fine thread but are more a 'push in' - 'pull out' fastener. All will be apparent once you get the first one out!

Yes thanks .........I finally got them out ......a few turns of a hard pressed Phillips head ......then a flat head screwdriver under them and a bit of pressure and they pop out ........as you say .....more a push pull thing than a screw .........but once you understand what you are dealing with the solution comes easier ........

Thanks again to all ......I now have wire in the back for my fridge ( the most important bit of kit in any defender !! ) .......... I'll toast you all with my first coldie ....

I have a my15 Defender and from my experience all the screw heads are "POZZI" drive NOT Phillips head
Pozzi drive screws are identified by an extra "star pattern" of very fine grooves between the normal slots
using a phillips head on them will quickly round them off
    cheers

Ok ........thanks to this great site ....I now have 12 volt supply in two points in the back .........one for an Anderson plug for my fridge .........and a Merrit plug for whatever .................although ....just realised that most things are tuned to a cigarette lighter plug ........so an adapter will be needed .......but I like the Merrit plug because of the way it mounts with the back screw .... It is super secureimage.jpg
