Drill a hole through the mounting bracket and rivet it to the bottom plate, thats what I did.
If you dont fancy that, get some blu tack and apply to the bracket to keep in place whilst you put the nuts on.

Regarding the Ex Box getting hot - is this a problem for older models or all?
I didn't notice much heat in the cubby during and after the run from Melbourne to Brisbane, although there was plenty hitting the back of my legs from under the seat.
Wondering if the Ex Box gets hotter than the cubby.

Ive dynamatted mine as well as Dynaliner (foam) so it is a lot cooler. I also used heat reflective tape onthe underside.
Highly recommended mod.
