whats the difference between a discovery td5 and defender td5 radiator?

    Hi all,

Have a cracked rad, wanting to upgrade it, theres a lot of ally ones out there especially from the UK. Im not flush with funds for the Allisport one. Ive seen plenty of ally rads for discovery that are the same price as regular ones here - around the 300-350 mark.

anyone tell me what the main deifferences are between the two?

the dims appear to be the same.

    cheers

D2 is around 30mm wider. I recall slightly taller too.
This width also stops the Defender IC from fitting.
I thought I could use my D2 donor rad and big aftermarket IC in the Defer but no joy without seriously modding the inner guards and mountings.

Cheers strangy - I knew there'd be more to it than logic would suggest. I'm guessing the extra weight of the disco and extra power output to compensate also mean a bigger cooling setup is needed. I think I'd rather not cut my guards up...

I'm not sure its that, its just the design of the bodywork and the radiator being made to fit it. I wasn't sure with the TD5, but this was also the case with Stage 1 V8 radiators and Discovery radiators - Disco ones are just that little bit too wide to fit.
    Cheers
