    SD V6 in Defender

Pretty sure this has been spoken about before but couldn't find any threads.

Has anyone in Australia successfully put a SD V6 from a Disco in a defender.

I know there is JE Engineering in UK that does them and Twisted UK does V8's and the 3.2 Ranger engine.

    Has anyone done it here?

Curious to hear some feedback. Cheers.

Would it be cheaper and easier to use a secondhand territory 2.7tdv6 with a chip and match up the transfer case?????

Not sure, but if you were to spend the money you'd/I'd want an auto transmission.

The conversions I've read about being done in the UK used the manual box from a D3, which are as rare as hen's teeth over here.

If you used the Territory engine, you would want to use the sump from a D3 as it's a lot more suited to off road and extreme angles.

I'm not sure whether the Ford 6R80 from the Territory or the ZF 6HP26 transmission would be better though.

You would think a motor/transmission from a D3 S (without terrain response and EAS) would be doable. Although the ABS might also need to be bought across for the traction control. As indicated earlier I would be upgrading the front and rear diff set ups.

Thinking about it, I reckon it would be easier to start with a wrecked AWD Territory, use the combined powertrain (engine and tranny) ECU, get an adapter made for the standard Defender transfer case. Just not sure how you would integrate the Territory body control, or whether you'd be able to use the Defender version.

RAR110, there's no difference in the motor or transmission between the EAS/non-EAS D3 versions, it's all able to be selected in the CCF.

I spoke to JE for the very same and they were pushing me to the 3.2tdci Ford engine and their 6 speed auto which i have driven and it is a good combination, just not convinced about the engine. 2.4 to 3.2 tdci same beast bigger teeth to bite me with... They report the SDV6 requires extensive engineering to work involving a higher cost. I would like a conversion that a LR dealer or indi can troubleshoot and service.
