6 Speed Auto conversion Transit Gearbox

    Hi guys,

This is a bit of a continuation from another post.

I'm contemplating doing an auto gearbox conversion in my MY15 2.2 Deefer.

So the doner will be the Ford transit 6 speed Auto gearbox. DPL will be doing the conversion, I'm looking for anyone who has already done this.

Is there anyone on here or does anyone know someone who has done this. I would love to hear some feedback.

So we are first looking at drawing 190hp out of the 2.2 as the auto will loose 10% so that's the plan anyway.

I look forward to some feedback. Cheers.

Would it be easier to use a auto out of a ranga or Everest?

I'm not sure. I will see Bruce tomorrow and ask the question.

Why go auto and push the 2.2 into the red zone... are you looking to tow a huge van?

Its not just the trans conversion its the software that determines the success and driveability.

And if it ends up anything like the 6 speed behind the 2.2 in a Ranger, you'll be disappointed.

Is there a problem with it in the 2.2 Ranger?

190HP?,...Definitely in the "red zone" for hot Aussie days,...bigger intercooler called for,....but ya'll still be pushing it.
I don't think ya'll be happy with the end result, particularly as you were looking at what an LS3 would do for you,....I reckon you'd be better off doing a bit more research on the V8 way, at this stage,...but only IMHO of course.

Hasn't ford been having big issues with the auto box from the ranger??? The guy down the road had 3 boxes through his, and the 3rd was about to die. I had heard from other sources that this wasn't uncommon.

There is a guy near Hay point apparently has an auto 2013 Puma, that's about all i know unfortunately.

My honest opinion is that picking the right transmission and setting up the controller / shift mapping is king. Pay the $ to get it done right. If it can end up like the trans/engine relationship found in the 2012 on dmax you will be very happy. I'm still yet to find better, they equal the sdv6 3.0l disco4 for driveability ( not torque output obviously&#128558
