Also, as my two year old Australian made upgraded radiator is leaking red stuff everywhere, I’m going to toss it, and purchased an Allisport aluminium updated radiator from the Motherland. Bit of a production delay of up to six weeks unfortunately, but these are radiator porn, and they say 35% more efficient.
This company supplies the Dakar racers, so that’s good enough for me.
Pics of the installs to follow.
    Best wishes all.

I bought one of these radiators from Allisport and it only lasted 4 years
The originals are a more cost effective way of doing it
There was actually an INCREASE in operating temperature using the updated radiator
I suspect when things got out near the edge the uprated radiator would give cooler operating temperatures but I never witnessed this even though I lived in the Pilbara

Hey djam1 this is very concerning to hear! I was considering upgrading my Defender radiator to an Allisport. Which vehicle did you have yours in? Did you change radiator because the original wasn't coping in Plilbara heat?

I had no issues with the Pilbara heat even with the standard radiator
I had it in a 2002 td5 defender I did it because I liked the idea of a higher capacity unit
They are a beautifully made thing but Allisport were uninterested when it failed (this is fair enough after 4 years)
I figured I can replace the standard radiator every couple of years as a service item and still be in front

I towed a trailer up Horrocks pass yesterday in 40 degree heat and with the standard radiator only got to 102 degrees C

Thanks djam, good to hear ...so is the consensus - upgrade Intercooler but no need to upgrade radiator? Any thoughts on puma radiators in extreme heat / durability?

They look like such a good idea. I'm just not sure where to connect to the existing piping so it stays hidden. Maybe it would be clearer with the kit in my hands.
