Wow, the seats, Cubby box and roof console look fantastic!
I need to look into upgrading my Recaro seats so may look into your options. I surmise they have to be purchased from ‘Landy Bits’ as they’re the Aussie distributor?
Well done again.

Installed the Rijidij wheel carrier. Lot of thought has gone into this design. I particularly like the locking pin that other designs fail to include. Pet hate is the door swinging closed on sloping ground or windy days,…..despite the gas strut mod!

Did the rear brake discs and pads on Tuesday, what a job, now I understand why LR dealers charge exorbitant amounts of money, it took about 3 hours each side, nothing difficult, just time consuming.

Fitted 120W flexible solar panel and PWM controller. Not a flash install but functional. Ran the wire behind roof ladder through a grommet into cab.

Well, first off Happy New Year everyone.
Ive been doing some of the smaller jobs that are on the list and these included:
Replace the silver wing checker plate panels with black units. Done
Instal new UHF cable from the antenna to the UHF radio and fit relevant connectors. Done
Instal ‘Dirt Defenders’. Done
Fit a new number plate bracket to the left edge of the rear quarter panel that was missed. (No more bent number plate. Done
Repair wiring to the LED headlights after the cable connectors failed in both.😳 Done
Now for probably the most frustrating issue I’ve ever had due to its nuisance value factor (and the vehicle is now off the road), the mongrel door hinge fittings, front and mid doors. I’m fitting Optimal hinges in black and of course, one captive nut for the front door has fallen into the bottom of the front pillar and can’t be retrieved.😒 I’ve had to order 8 of them from the UK as no one in Oz was showing stock, or they were closed for too long in Australia during the holidays. At least they’re already at the UK airport to get to me. Great service.
So I thought I’d concentrate on the mid doors. 🤬 Even worse, the right lower hinge nuts (? a welded nut bar?) has fallen into the pillar, and I’m stuffed if I can see anywhere to access the back of the pillar to retrieve or fit new units. It won’t take captive nuts that can be fitted from the front or side of the pillar. It’s got me stumped, and of course, any vids on YouTube etc only discuss 90s.
Any ideas with this at all? (Note lower mid door hinge.)
Thank you.
Ken

Can't really help, but certainly understand the pain. Does the manual give any advice? Could a small magnet on a string retrieve the lost nut?
Hi mate.
Possibly re the front channel and access to re fit the nut/carrier clip, but not at all for the centre pillar. The bolt holes are sleeved, and no access hole to put anything down/pull back out.
‘It really got me buggered but now you mention it, I do own a Haynes manual but it has nothing relevant. My LR manual (digital) shows nothing relevant apart from how to remove the doors from the hinge, which I followed to the letter.

Well, access is via underneath the vehicle inline with the rear of the seat box and the sils.
The problem with my vehicle is that I’ve had to drop the right 65 litre Sil fuel tank to be able to access the cut out. As expected, the captive nut bar had dropped down. After a lot of mucking around, I’ve got the hinge bolts to fit into the captive nuts and tightened/allingned the door, so at least the original issue is all sorted. I expect I’ll need to do the same on the left side as well.🥺
Im really happy with the Optimil hinges though, they’re a work of art compared to the factory units.👍

Cut the head off a longer (~1” min) bolt with same thread.
Remove ONE bolt from the hinge and put this threaded rod in.
Now undo the other bolt and remove.
Slide new hinge over,
Fit first bolt,
Remove threaded rod
Fit second bolt…
