I fitted a reversing camera to my 90, makes it a lot easier to hitch up the trailer.

    Bit the bullet

Well, I got sick of waiting for the mob in the UK (Liquid Ice;- avoid!) to send me the brackets for my double din facia, so I bent up my own from 1mm sheet steel. Not pretty, but they are strong and do the job.
I've pulled the dash apart and tested the Apple Car Play Alpine head unit (very impressed) and have swapped out all switches, test fitted the side instrument panel, and just have to cut the panel out of the drivers side dash, and amputate the vent panel, then fit it all up after doing some more wiring while I have access to the insides of the dash.
Plan is to have it all back together tomorrow. The hardest part so far is removing the cigarette lighter plug. Still stuck on that!
More to follow. Its beer o'clock.

I've tried working standing on my head too. The novelty wore off after 0.5 seconds. Not enough time to use it as an excuse.
    Cheers, Billy.

I got sick of forgetting my hand brake. Black, in a very black interior. Now I at least see it as a prompt when I park the truck!

Forget your handbrake!!!!! How can you do that? It should be a simple part of safe driving?
Still, your driving skills aren't what we're on about here.......
I fixed the pink wire that seems to have a habit of breaking in the read passenger doors. This time it was the nearside rear (left hand side, kerbside, nearest the path side, behind the front passenger ) as I'd done the one behind me twice.
This time I used the same wire as used on my second go at a permanent fix for the door behind me. Usual cursing trying to get the window winder clip out (why can't they just stick a bolt in the end to hold the handle on?) and then trying to get the door card off without breaking the "things" which hold it in place.
As expected and as per the offside it had broken right about the middle of the rubber convoluted tube which it goes through from the door to the B pillar.
Horrible stiff cheap wire typical of Fords ownership of LR.
Anyway, cut about 12cms out, fed the new wire through the tubing, bared the ends and soldered them up and then slid the bits of heat shrink I'd remembered to put on first, up over the join and the job was done.
Now today I'll put a new battery in one of the key fobs (spare is still good) and then start to renew that awful crap between the trim beneath the doors and the body. Drivers side I used weather strip stuff from Bunnings or somewhere and that was 4 years ago and it's still good so that's what I'll use this time..... when I find it's hiding place in the shed.
    AlanH.

PS. My comments about typical cheap crap Ford stuff stems from years back having a new XF Falcon (as a taxi) which had plastic bits on the cooling system that were so bad they fell apart less than 18 months later and about 140K. Weren't fit for my retic system let alone on a vehicle.

What did you do to your Puma today?

    18 months and 140k isn't exactly a gentle life.
Nor is the stresses on the vehicle in general as a taxi..

Short of a designed for purpose vehicle (eg London Cab) asking a family car to do in 18 months what most people would do in 10 years is hardly fair to pick on the vehicle.

And having owned an XF - was a very reliable vehicle..
I'd say most of the cooling system on yours was tampered with - extra for LPG system etc..

Fitted Mulgos side rails. Was harder getting the sills off than fitting the rails (why are extra long bolts needed to hold 1mm panels in place) and found more places that dirt hides as it dropped in my face.

Very happy with the outcome though. Bonus my better half is also happy, makes getting in easier, which wasn't quite the intended purpose but I'll roll with it.
