    Up rated brakes

Today I had my brake rotors and pads uprated using RDA slotted and dimpled rotors and RDA Extreme disc pads.
My OEM rotors had a decent lip in them at 100,000 kms.
Unfortunately the mob who fitted the hard ware refused to fit my Hel brand braided lines, new in the box and straight from Hel Australia (brilliant service) as they don't sell braided lines.
I wish I had known as I would have bought the complete upgrade from my mechanic in Cairns vs being lectured by this bloke.
I would have walked out but I paid a deposit of $300.
He even remarked that they didn't regrease my bearings as they quoted too low ($1200 all up) but didn't bother to call me and ask.
Rare occurrence, but I won't be back to the local business who I used for the first time.
They even commented that they normally wouldnt touch Land Rovers.
    Live and learn.

I am interested to know how the brakes are. Since I have been towing more lately I have been thinking about doing a brake upgrade.

Pretty arrogant attitude by them. What happened to the customer always being right? I wouldn't go back if it was me.

    G'day Mick and Stewie.
Yep, biggest issue I had is the lecture about fitting parts they didn't sell me. I understand statute warranty concern, and accept it as their right, just stop with the 2 minute lecture. I certainly didn't give them any attitude and was looking forward to the job being done there.
Also, mucked me around re fitting time, so an extra $50 in taxi fare. There's no chance of me going back, that's for sure!
Re the brake performance Stewie, I would love to be able to say that they are brilliant, and have the new lines in as well.
I only ordered slotted vs slotted and dimpled, but ended up with the latter fitted on inspection.
Probably wouldn't notice much difference in daily use, as opposed to emergency stopping distance where it really counts and perhaps a firmer pedal. I take on board the brake manufacturers web site showing comparable stopping distances of OEM vs their uprated gear.
I also tow a 2 1/2 ton off road van, so after improving my engine, the brakes were a no brainer for me.
    Peace of mind.
    Best wishes fellers.
    Ken
