Agreed, that’s the most amazing thing, it is an extremely straight forward job.
Personally I think he didn’t want to have a go as there was some thoughtful placement required.

Have no fear, hell would freeze over before I gave him another go.

If I had any talent I’d take a photo, in fact I will but I’ll do that when I’ve finished the whole job.

Time taken so far, four hours. However that was broken by talking with mates on the phone(completely unrelated to the job at hand) and chatting to a fellow Defender driver who popped in(Hi Allan).

Great bit of kit. Been a real journey trying to get installed. I was recommended a certain auto electrician, he had one look and said “Couldn’t be bothered”, that was despite my insistence I was happy to pay for hours on the job! He reckoned it would take days.

In my defence I was under the pump at work and had zero time. I’ve now some time so in it went.
The instructions do seem daunting however Tim has done a great job of making them very detailed. I read them several times over several days so my unconscious could have a think before my conscious fat fingers got at it.

    Good Luck

Thanks for that, relays are rather large and stand out in my mind. I am going to mount it under the driver side access panel I think, will share pictures when done.

Thanks bud. Time for me to get a kit!

Yes, I did consider this however Tim also indicated that to do this would require extending the wiring loom which in turn will reduce power to the lights.

That's where I put mine, relays mounted to a piece of flat steel attached direct to the mudguard inner, been there nearly 3 years through mud and water and the Anne Beadell highway corrugations with no issues whatsoever. There was JUST enough length in the wires supplied by Tim to reach the battery box for that spot.

Good one, great result. I had less courage.
I’ve just tried out the lights, they do seem brighter.

OK, so today I got the rig back after having the underbody two pac rustproofed and then sprayed with a tar layer as another sealing layer.

It has made a great difference to lowered sound level. Maybe over the top however every time I did a beach drive I feared what was happening to the undercarriage!

Now to tidy up the lighting wiring(and install another electrical outlet for the fridge).

    Will the Modd’ing ever end............
