I think you're right. The original dash is doing it too...and I put the metal clips on. Snapped on great at the bottom with the clips by the vents aren't locking it.

Trimmed back vents. Is a bit better. Need a metal clip to lock in the top right in. Not sure where to source them...could wrap some insulation tape around the tab to make it hold better!

Overall happy with it. Ordered 4 new pioneer 2 way speakers...pretty cheap... the back ones are blown.

Fitted subwoofer and 4 new speakers. The rear speakers seemed a bit rattly? so have got it on fader forward.

Fitted the sub but it caused a real vibration so got so foam in behind it and good as gold.

Has transformed sound in the Defender. I'm surprised how good it is and the sub made a big difference... $348 from Supercheap.

Will get a black cable tidy so the blue remote and RCAs are more discreet.

Also fitted a wireless charging Quadlock. Really good, best phone mount I have found.

The price of that subwoofer has certainly gone up since I purchased mine in November; $235 shipping included, from an eBay seller. The cable remote is a bit old school, but a nice bit of kit.

I run Quadlock on everything including the bike and boat. Excellent device.

Yeah that is NZD but $235 was a super sharp price. Got SC to price match as they had it $399...so good on them beating any price I could find locally.

I wasn't even going to attach the remote but have found it allows tweaks between radio and wifi audio that let's you set it just right for the type of music/source.

Finially replaced the disintegrating gear stick with a flash new one

And upgraded the rear axels to heavy duty, which has transformed how the thing drives! Almost no backlash now. Should have done this years ago.

From KLR, Brad gets them from the UK. They feel much nicer than OEM and seem a better weight too. Sorry about the crap photos

Added reversing camera - wired into reverse light power. Camera comes on when reverse selected but if on radio won't do it automatically. There is a Camera trigger lead from the head unit and the video cable has a red cable at each end...bot sure if there is a better way to wire as if on it has LED lights. Overall pretty happy as was only $20.
