Thread: Central Locking Issues.....

I'm told the issue is that as the door opens and shuts a wire or two break in the harness between the pillar and door.
There is a short replacement loom available that just plugs in at each end.
I'll know more when I look at mine as my LHR door started to do the same thing after our last trip.

Yep had the exact same issue with the exact same door on the exact same vehicle....broken wire in the harness that goes from the B-pillar into the door. It'll short out and blow a fuse too if you leave it. A little bit of wire, some solder and heat shrink will sort it out.

Mine went in the same door, the wires had melted together and as well as the other problems described mine also caused issues with the alarm system and locking the car down.

As suggested just look at the B pillar and the wires go through some plastic tube into the door, it was in there that they melted and kept shorting out.

Forgive my lack of knowledge but where is the B pillar and the replacement harness thingie where can i get one from...??

Or just find the break and solder it back together.....?

....same thing has happened to me on each rear door.

The B-pillar is the pillar between the front and rear door. If you open the rear door that doesn't lock/unlock, and look on the front edge of the door you will notice a corrugated, black, rubber sleeve. If you pull the sleeve back from either side, you should find your broken/crimped piece of wire.

Regarding the replacement harness, not sure. I have always used a replacement piece of wire, solder, and heat shrink.

Remember to run the wire through the sleeve before soldering as once you join it you won't get the connector through the sleeve.

There are 2 connectors you can unplug to assist you 1 in the B pillar (which can be reached from beside the front seat) and the other in the door (accessible when you remove the door card).
