Defender 130 Tow Bar with Long Range Tank

    Hi Folks,

    Just looking for some advice............

I have an adjustable height tow bar fitted on my 130 (part 007223) and want to install a long range tank (like beneath):

I'm not sure whether the tank will fit with the two bars that attach to the chassis? Has anyone tried this before?

I have attached a few photos to try and explain further:

    Thanks!

From your images it looks to be designed to incorporate that in its design.

Have you spoken to The tank boys?

I emailed the tank people, they say they aren't sure and sent me some more photos:

It does look like it has been purposely shaped to fit the tow bar struts.....hmmmmm.

Anybody know someone around Sydney who has this or another big tank installed then I could see if the towbar fits haha really trying my luck now

If it came down to it - would not be difficult to have a local towbar mob make a set of bars to suit..

I'd put money on it through that it's going to fit.

I have a normal genuine towbar that has the bars that the tank was designed to avoid. I can grab some pics of that if you like.

    Still has std tank though.

    Hi,

If you could take a few photos it would be really helpful! Would also be interested to see the type of tow bar you have and how it fits.

My 110 had a Land Rover towbar fitted from new, which I had to change for a Hayman Reese when I fitted the long range tank.

I have fitted a Hayman Reese towbar to my long range tank equipped 130 and I could be wrong (often am) but my understanding is that this is the only towbar which will fit with that tank.

My guess is you'll be fine.

Same mounting point at the front of the chassis, but much higher than yours would be even in the highest setting on your towbar.

    Hope it helps

    Cheers
