Defender wheel nuts
Hi all can anyone tell me of any wreckers they know of in Perth "south of the river" where i might pick up some wheel nuts to replace the lock nuts on my defender. Cheers in advance

West Coast Rover, Kenwick.
Disco 1 and RRC wheel nuts are the same.

If you have the latter alloy rims with chrome ish nuts, you should get some spares as well.
The heads can deform with rattle gun use and will be very difficult to remove in the bush when the time comes.
Absolutely rubbish design.

chromish nuts
I second what Ken says about the alloy wheel nuts. I do them at home myself and I'm very carefull with the rattle gun. They do look good but they are expensive about $10 each
for bush driving I'll be putting on my old steel disco wheels. cheers simmo

If you are talking about nuts for alloy wheels, as already mentioned, over time the chrome overlay on the wheel nuts will deform, I'd suggest you buy new, they arent expensive, I buy about 20 at a time and replace both locking nuts and badly worn ones.

Hi Bru , just a tip , put a little dob of grease in the threads , also lightly on the surface where the nut touches the surface of the wheel . This helps to stop corrosion .There have been cases where wheels that have been on vehicles for a long time can become extremely hard to get off !!.. Jim
