Exclamation Sydney: Can Defender legaly park in Loading Zones?

    Hello Peoples,

Can someone confirm if a 4dr Defender is legally allowed to park in Loading Zones in Sydney ?

Because I was under the impression that only "station wagons" and "trucks" are allowed...

Is your four door Defender a utility, station wagon or sedan?

Aaron: I'm still looking/researching , so don't have one as such. But am after a "wagon" 5 door 110.
However it's all about the registration papers I guess... which i have no access to (As dont own a 110).

Can anyone please check their rego papers to see what it's classified as ?

Here are the Rego details of the 110 for sale at Rydalmere (for sale on this forum) that you seem interested in...

If its registered and used as a commercial vehicle, then you should be able to park in a loading zone.

    Hi,
In Tas you must also have signage on the vehicle indicating the company owning said vehicle, and be loading/unloading to be parked there.
    Cheers

I had a look at google when I read the Op, and it suggests that a 110 Wagon is not eligible.

They clearly define a wagon as a vehicle that has a sedan counterpart and is the same as a sedan from the windscreen forward.

They even say that most 4WD don't qualify.

Just google loading zone rules Sydney and have a look.

    ROAD RULES 2014 - REG 179

Stopping in a loading zone 179 Stopping in a loading zone

    (1) A driver must not stop in a loading zone unless the driver is driving:
    (a) a public bus that is dropping off, or picking up, passengers, or
    (b) a truck that is dropping off, or picking up, goods, or
    (c) any of the following vehicles:
    (i) a vehicle that a person is getting into or out of or getting on or off,
(ii) a station wagon or a motor bike that has 3 wheels and is constructed principally for the conveyance of goods,
(iii) a motor vehicle constructed principally for the conveyance of goods (other than a vehicle referred to in subparagraph (ii)).
I think principally for the conveyance of goods will be the bit that excludes a 110 wagon. (its pricipally constructed for people), and if you can stop 15min would be the max (for a Landy).

A driver who is permitted to stop in a loading zone must not stay continuously in the zone for longer than:
    (a) 30 minutes, or
    (b) if information on or with the loading zone signs applying to the loading zone indicates another time-the indicated time, or
    (c) for a driver of a vehicle referred to in subrule (1) (c):
    (i) in the case of a vehicle that a person is getting into or out of or getting on or off-the period during which the person is getting into or out of, or on or off, the vehicle, or
(ii) in the case of a station wagon or a motor bike that has 3 wheels and is constructed principally for the conveyance of goods-the period during which goods are being dropped off or picked up from the vehicle or 15 minutes (whichever is the lesser), or
(iii) in the case of a motor vehicle constructed principally for the conveyance of goods (other than a vehicle referred to in subparagraph (ii))-the period during which goods are being dropped off or picked up from the vehicle or 30 minutes (whichever is the lesser).
