Buddy what did you pay for your mantec? Can PM me if you want. Just want to make sure I get the best possible price for the boys.

    Thanks.

$636 for a Front Runner wheel carrier from The Expedition Centre in Sydney.

Ebay has the Mantec ones for 299 pounds.

I bought a Rijidig some 4 years or so ago and it's great. All the sharp edges were nicely rounded off before spraying thereby eliminating the powder coat cracking and letting water in to rust.
That's what happened to a British made (I think) carrier I bought some years ago from Rovercraft plus it was wearing rapidly where it pivoted. I actually took it off before selling vehicle and removed all the sharp edges and rust before respraying it.
No such wear or rust on this Rijidig and although it was more expensive I believe it's worth it.

In defence of the cost of the Rijidij product (and the implication about the cost of Australian manufacturing), you're not really comparing apples with apples with the Mantec carrier.

Murray has clearly put a bit of thought into his product. The Mantec carrier is a fairly light and simple solution but needs a couple of holes drilled in the bodywork. The Rijidij carrier mounts entirely off the chassis and also locks in place when the door is open. It's a more sophisticated solution, with more steel in it and more complicated to produce.

Both good products with different solutions to the same problem, but a fairer comparision to the Rijidij in terms of cost would be the Nakatanenga carrier, which is more expensive.

    Cheers,
    Jon

You get what you pay for, as the saying goes.
From what I've seen, the Mantec is a good carrier for the money. I've replaced UK built carriers which have cracked on outback corrugations, but NOT the Mantec.

In regards to the comments from Alan above, the pictures below are of a very well known Australian brand of wheel carriers (not Rijidij )

This is why I weld caps on every hollow tube, grind them clean and powder coat over everything. Plastic caps are useless in this situation.

This is a carrier on a Defender which was less than 6 months old, and it was the second time the powder coat had lifted after being 'fixed' ????? There is obviously no zinc primer or undercoat, just top coat straight on the bare steel. My powder coater guarantees their work for 12 months.
This is not acceptable when you hand over a lot of your hard earned cash for a so called good brand product.

Sorry to take the subject a bit off track, I just thought I'd point out a couple of reasons why there's such a price difference between products. It's all in the details.

    Cheers, Murray

Hi Murray. Are you having any issues with your site? I can't seem to get on it. Tried my laptop, phone, iPad and girlfriends phone. All try to connect then a page comes up saying can't connect. Do you have an email I would be able to purchase through?
