How long should I allow for swivel rebuild ?

    2003 td5 130
I need/want to rebuild my front swivels including all new front suspension bushes. Just wondering roughly how many days should I allow. Ive got a couple of days off this week and was thinking about having a crack but i dont want to run of time as i need the ute for work. I did my county years ago and a series iii before that but there was no time constraint so i just did the work over a couple of weeks at night in the shed.
IIRC getting the bushes out was the worst part.
Thanks to Mario/Roverlord for all the parts, fantastic price and service.

You should be able to do both swivels in a day with a a few hours to spare.
Probably best to do one corner at a time before starting the next.
Cleaning all the components takes the most time.

With difficult bushes, I have drilled lots of holes in the rubber until the centre pushes out, then hacksaw the the outer sleeve and punch to deform.

The other 2% made it home.

its the bushes that will take the time. Just getting the nuts off took me forever.
And drilling etc was a horrible job. Make sure you use a corded drill because a cordless probably wont have the power. The rubber when hot is very sticky to drill. I would do this as a separate job to the balls.
I just did both of mine with new Cv , bearings , axles , flanges and balls. Took a couple of hours to strip after work one friday. Then cleaned what i needed to and put it back together by lunchtime. I set mine up on the bench rather than the car. Setting shims etc. Takes a bit of time but is easy to do. Reduced the backlash by a huge amount.
Good to have a bench vice to hold it all. I also drilled some drain holes and now running oil rather than grease. I like the fact that i can change the fluids quickly. Clean oil makes a happy car .
