Puma gearbox oil
Hi, I have a question about gearbox oil for my 2010 defender, I have just drained and filled with Penrite gear pro, picked that one after reading various posts and it was easy to get. Filled to the stated amount of 2.2Lt.
But on draining it I got 3 Lt of red oil out of it, this seems way too much based on the specs and I am thing it may be ATF in in.
Does anyone know if there are any manual gearbox oils that are red? And would having 3Lt in be an issue?
I normally get it serviced at a decent well known indi on the Gold Coast, but could not get it done this time before I go on holiday next week, I will ask them when I talk to them next but just want to know if this all sounds right or at least has not done any damage.
Edit: took it for a drive and can't believe the change in gear selection, it is a lot smoother now, could be just that it is fresh but the last oil had only done around 12000k anyway, pleased with it now, think I will do all my own oil changes now.
Cheers
Pat.

Not unusual to get more when draining, I also got in excess of 3ltrs when draining mine a couple of years ago.
I replaced with the Castrol Bot328

From memory i think it was red, though can't be sure, as the spare oil is in my Defender which is resting at the local dealer at the moment.
The extra oil can affect the oils seals in the box.
