Good luck, plenty to choose from, and would suspect most will advise Bilstein or Koni.
I'm leaning toward superior engineering right now.

See the metal attached to the mount on the diff with the shock bush sitting inside it?

What's the thought on removing the cups tombie ? I've seen reference to this on gwyn Lewis's site

Take the off.. a cold chisel and a solid "whack" does the job.

This then let's the shock flex better during articulation.

Yep I do have them. I will knock them off when I get the new shocker. Cheers!

    Tombie,

Do I knock them off both sides?

There is the side you can see in the picture but there is also that same cup section on the other side of the diff bracket plate

I checked gwyn Lewis site and he says both sides. Also it says it lengths life of bushes, more flex and helps the shock not snapping at the pin. Hmmmmmm maybe I just fixed it?

    Still going long travel.

I'm going to pin\pin conversion and getting either fox or superior engineering shocks. Leaning toward superior as they are in Aus

Long travel is subjective. You need the shock to be at full extension once the spring is reaching full open length and not forcing the shock.

Or travel straps.. Old Man Emu shock absorbers

Don't be tempted to go stupid flex - it makes for unstable behaviour and no traction benefits.

I've ordered the isolation washers from gwyn Lewis for my current setup. I took off the cups. Last one on top exhaust side was a pain in the ass.

Yeah I don't want something ridiculous but I want long travel as it's going to help the kind of driving I do off road.

The outcome with all this is that they are only replacing the broken shocker. I wanted a spare and the other replaced too. I picked it up today and fitted it minus the cups. I gave it to the manager about the shocks. Felt a bit sorry for him after I left as I knew he was probably on my side but nonetheless I had to let them know this isn't good enough.

I spoke to superior engineering today about shockers. They want me to lift one wheel up with the pin/pin bracket on and measure closed and open lengths so they can match a shocker for me. Most likely the 80 series shocks with remote res. I bought the gwyn Lewis double fixing brackets which allow one fitting hole to give more articulation off road and the other is better for on road driving. Also isolation washers coming. When he goes to LRA on the 16th going to get them to do the measurements for me. I'm going to fit the shocks myself.

Can I ask a (hopefully) related question: I have a 85 County 110 fitted with OME shocks and the rear upper bushes (about 40mm ext dia?) are non-existant and rattles around like hell! Does anybody know if standard bushes ($1.50 eBay!?) fit or do I need ARB ($44 quoted today)...or...?? (BTW, Budget extremely tight)
