    Sunroof options for 110

Hi, I'm looking to install a manual sunroof into my defender 110. Its actually a perentie that I've put a hard top on.

I'm wondering if there are any 3rd party sunroofs that will fit?
The factory LR045412 is horribly expensive.

I'm assuming I'll have to cut out the reinforcing channel per this picture.

I've also seen a manual sunroof on ebay that's from a Discovery 1 at a reasonable price. The factory part number for this is STC8096 and it looks very similar to the defender version but wondering if it would fit?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated

If your cutting the hole a trip down to a wreckers with a measuring tape would probably come up with quite a few options. Don't see any reason why that disco one wouldn't work.

Personally I'm happy not to have a sun roof. I can open the bulkhead vents for ventilation . I prefer my roof with less leaks, insulated from sun.

Also depending on size a sunroof can add as much as 20kg of weight which I'd prefer to keep for my roof rack.

That disco one looks like it might have an aluminium panel in place of glass? That would save on weight and block the sun from burning you a bald patch! Could be a good option if you just want something extra to crack for ventilation.

The sunroof on our D1 was a pain and ended up jamming in the middle of the Simpson Desert because dust got in past the seals and gummed up the runners, which snapped, so I wouldn't, if I were you.

I had an Escort years ago that had an aftermarket Sunroof fitted, it worked well.
    A quick Google search...

This is one that could be worth investigating further...

As Manic said, go to the wreckers with a tape. It could come out of anything as long as it fits and does the job. Does not have to be a LR product.

They are not ideal in a Deefer due to the sloping roof , If it`s wet or your roof has a hint of some H20 on it the first time you hit the brakes Wet Lap

I have been thinking of fitting a WRX style roof vent to my puma because of the lack of front vents. Anybody tried it ?

The sunroof in my old rangie was great for letting the heat out and irrigating the back of my neck.

That WRX roof vent is not factory fit to my knowledge. There are a variety of rally style vents that could be made to fit. Some guys use a single roof vent from a Toyota Dyna truck.
