Land Rover Defender TD5 wastegate actuator

just gave my wastegate actuator shaft(at turbo end) a good spray with inox as felt a bit sticky/stiff -anyway adjusted up knurled nut on shaft a couple of threads (originally showing 13 threads/now 11) -seems to have made a difference to general performance/power -how far could i safely adjust further? Has egr blanked off and egt guage.

You could easily go a couple more threads again, I'll measure the length of my rod and get back to you. I have adjusted mine in the past and it gave a good performance boost, I went from 16psi to about 18.5 on a gauge and was a noticeable improvement.

    Sorry for the intrusion

I have just posted a thread re ECU (TD5) settings and the possibility of my vehicle over fueling and with that overheating.

Seeing this post made me wonder if backing off the waste gate setting (lowering the turbo pressure) would also limit the amount of fuel being fed in by the ECU?

    I gotta keep trying.

    Cheers

    Mike

From what I understand, the fuelling doesn't change with turbo pressure, you are putting in the same amount of fuel but its a bit leaner (more air). If the ECU was remapped or the MAF sensor was showing a higher airflow than actual then you may be putting in more fuel.
