I ended up re-insuring the Tardis this year with club 4x4. Very easy, painless and they were good to deal with. It was about $100 dearer but the difference in cover was huge. We are also doing a Simpson trip this year, so I took out the extra recovery option. Vehicle is insured for 60k, contents, theft + the 30k recovery option. I have been with QBE for years now, slowly weaning all the cars away from them, Ralph is with NRMA Classic and the wife's, Grand Vitara was even $150 cheaper with club 4x4. It's just a little bit of piece of mind when you are in the middle of nowhere if something does go wrong.

Yes did that, but the quote above from the fine print appears to contradict some reasons for having the insurance. Obviously need to talk to Club 4x4, but it would be good to hear an independent report from anyone who’s made a claim...

    Ins is strange

    Hi,
i am with Club 4x4 as well but they are quite expensive if you have a van/slideon etc but great for just the vehicle as mentioned below. Even did my modified ambulance with only requiring some photos first. I tried NRMA Classic but they refused because --I said I use it for camping!!!!! yet are fine with my non camping Game. Strange.

I'm with Shannons at the moment as a legacy of when I had my '67 Big Healey and it was easier to have a sole provider, but I'm not convinced they're the right provider based on all the mods I've made to the Defender.

I'm going to have a chat with Club 4x4 and it sounds like I'll need to send them some photos and organise the list of modifications. Will advise the quote once I receive it.

anyone actually made a claim with them?
the sales pitch is good but no use if they dont actually do what they say.
