    Club 4X4 Insurance

I changed my 2012 Defenders' insurance today from Shannons, to Club 4X4 after considering the money I've sunk into the truck.
process was fairly painless but they wanted a list of my mods/accessories (bugger me, it's extensive and incomplete!) and photos of each side of the vehicle.
Now insured for $84,000, which includes around $40K in mods and accessories.
I also included windscreen and $15,000 in recovery insurance should it die in an inaccessible area.
i.e, Simpson recovery on the flat top is seriously expensive.
So, all up, around $1,300 per year, which is a fair bit, but not when the total cost of my truck is factored in vs replacement value.
It was insured via Shannons for $45,000 market value (theirs) and that wouldn't have covered my mods/accessories or any where near the level of break down recovery.
Others may have better options, but Im feeling pretty reassured with this level of cover vs cost.
Comments or others experience for their extensively modified truck?
    Best wishes all.
    Ken

Thanks for that. Getting mods covered seems to be very variable between the companies.
I remember with our old D1 the mods were worth more than the vehicle and AAMI refused to include more mods than the value of the vehicle, so some of our mods were not covered.

Sounds like you have peace of mind now - that's hard to put cost on.

Yep, the Defender doesn't need mods, just accessories. 😎

I have gone to Club 4x4 also. Highest agreed value l could get. I didn't go with all the recovery options etc. More interested in covering the 130 (and accessories) for what it's all worth.

I am the same. Been with Club4x4 for about 18 months now. All accessories covered. Major downside is that I now know how much I've spent on said accessories.

Which reminds me... I need to update my build post. I've been very slack.

Looking at changing over to Club4x4 Insurance. ...But with regard to vehicle recovery, I was just reading the PDS and it says this on page 19:

"You are not covered under the policy for:
    • - any structural, mechanical, electrical or electronic failure or breakdown;"

I'm assuming the insurer is not liable for the cost of repairs, but does this also mean you're not covered if you breakdown?

You are insured for accident not break down`s .
If you want break down insurance go to your local motoring group

Check the section where they spell out benefits etc... am pretty sure they say things like in the event of a breakdown/recovery they will get you to civilisation and fund basic repairs to get you home ...there are provisos and caps/limits etc. Been a while since I read up on my policy.
