Since Daniel did the conversion, I have never used my caravan, and only once used my off-road Camper trailer. ( that was just to try it again )
I hope to see all the Mulgo Converts at the Expo at Camden too.
Hey it would be great to see your pics. And how is it when you need to climb down to take a leak in the middle of the night?

Great to hear you're so happy with it too. 👍

    While we wait for Bagsalino......

Re: middle of the night pee, just reverse to getting up into the bed, our lights will eventually become remote controlled.....we have a loo in the car so no need to go outside.l when it's raining, fine weather we go outside. It's rare we need to get up in the middle of the night.

Getting close to finishing the kitchen storage......we will either step on the kitchen bench or the lounge (bigger distance) on the other side

And to fund our trip around the world it's also a food van....serve through the gull wing, this pic has the bed raised

Hey thanks Weeds, looking great. It still looks deceptively high to climb up easily. I'm thinking about how to put a ladder in the side where your bench is. Has anyone done this?

Nice idea to use gullwing as a food van window...what's your specialty?

A bit off topic...... I would love to be able to afford one of these Roof mods but not really knowing how long I will be keeping my current defender or whether to upgrade to a later version and henceforth not willing to do that sort of mod..... but I recently came across the BUNDUTOP ELECTRIC ROOFTOP TENT (see link below) which I thought would be another option solution that would solve my dilemma and would allow me to take it with me from car to car or trailer to trailer. It comes with some issues of not being able to stand upright, etc, but still extremely very quick to set up, greater flexibility and a price more to my budget. Add to this the BUNDUTEC 3 SIDED POLELESS WING AWNING and u really have some great undercover space....

Sorry for going off topic, but it's just another option that people may or may not have considered.....

I think you're over thinking getting in and out of bed....unless there are factors like age, size, medical issue.

Im 6'1" at 95kg, bride is 5'10" and both 46years young, no issues for us.

Best thing would be to track one down and have a look to get the real picture.

Yeah probably over thinking, but I'd be surprised if no one has put a three step ladder inside to make it easier. Will definitely check one out in the flesh of course when I have a chance.

It's a big decision to cut and shut the roof on a perfectly good Defender for a $10K tent, but I like the convenience and the idea of sleeping soundly inside the vehicle. I dont think I'd do the full kitchen fitout though because I use my Landy for many purposes. Hence the idea of a ladder and thinking through how to get up to the bed platform without a bench to climb up.

hi, i will have to get some pics up as soon as i can get away from the vehicle.
I have a milk crate, saf t step on a towbar tongue, saf t step on a bracket, top of storage drawer, top of Eva Kool esky, then up to the bed. All those steps make it easy for us. Every Defender owner use his/her ingenuity.

Any one with a 4/5 seat Pop Top?

Finally started work on the poptop 4 seat reconfiguration after a month OS. Ordered Exmoor middle left and right seats and matching front seat re trim kit (any one wanting to trade/swap your worn puma front seats with mine please pm). Access to the poptop will be through the middle seats as i am thinking about installing a slide out pod with fridge/draws etc at the back from OTS.

    Anyone done similar pods? Thoughts?

Interesting idea Dazzler. Do you mean you won't acces the vehicle through the rear door, but down a central corridor from the front?

i like the G Professional walk through set up with four bucket seats and central corridor. Has anyone mounted an extra two front Defender seats in the second row instead of the split fold 3 seat bench?

i like the idea of being able to walk straight through with the poptop up and easy access to / from drivers seat to bed if the weather is wet or in an emergency. Also just for ease of access. Perhaps even a cargo barrier with centre taken out?

Trying to save the cash for a mulgo poptop conversion is the difficult part though lol!
