Hi,

Hi everyone.
As I've got Recaro seats fitted to my 2012 110, I have to unbolt them to access the battery. Only a 3 minute task, but there's got to be a better way to charge or jump my primary battery.
I have a dual battery system, with an Redarc isolator at the primary. secondary is in the rear of the vehicle in a battery box with relevant plugs, and fused accessories.
Im thinking of installing Morosso remote battery terminals on the side of the seat box, so I can attach a charger or my Lithium jump start module should the need arise.
My question is, are there any issues with this set up, obviously correctly rated cables from the terminals to the battery. I'll ensure they can't contact anything when the caps are off, and won't be in the way.
Thanks for any advice re this option.

Great pickup.
Thanks.
Another way is to mount a 175 amp Anderson plug on the side of the seat box and the same on your jump cables.

Hi Numpty.
Yep, I've considered the Anderson plug option. It would be neater, but probably a better option for charging vs jump starting. I don't want to remove the clamps off my $450 Lithium battery jump unit.
Ill agonise over the Anderson plug As really, how often do you get a flat battery so removing the seat on those very rare occasions isn't really that big a deal.
Ta.

I might go this route.
This way I can charge and jump start from the Anderson plug. It's cleaner and safer than battery posts in the cabin.
Expensive, but neat.

Hi Ken and there is absolutely no reason to fit anything larger than a 50 amp Anderson plug and 6B&S ( 13.5mm2 ) cable, all protected by a 50 Auto Resetting Circuit Breaker.
If you carry out a jump-start correctly in the first place, there is no need for massive cables and connectors..
6B&S cable has a maximum safe continuos rating of around 100 amps.
But you are looking at a very short load period of just a few seconds and in this type of situation, 6B&S can easily and safely hand around 400 amps.
But when a jump-start is carried out correctly, the jumper leads are not likely to carry much more than 200 amps, if that.
And NOTE, you will not trip the 50 amp Circuit Breaker while jump starting.
The link below will explain how to carry out a jump-start correctly and when done this way, a 50 amp Anderson plug and 6B&S will easily meet the needs of any jump-start situation.

Thanks for the great advice and link Drive Safe.
I went into an auto parts place this morning and saw their 50 amp Anderson plug and alligator clamps for just what you suggested.
Unfortunatly they didn't have the gear for the other half to the battery.
So I had literally just purchased the 175 amp set up as per the picture from EBay.
Bugger!
'Oh well, at least I won't risk anything melting!
Thanks again, and the benefit of these posts are that others can learn from the informed comment, such as you provided.
Good on you.
