    Help: BAS Remap 170 Autobiography

    Hi everyone.
I received my BAS RRC dongle thingy and an ECU from Pete. Great.
The lack (none) of instructions that come with the unit is disappointing.
Ive been to the BAS web and FB site, and I'm still no wiser.
    OK:
I have the Apple App for BAS.
My iPad links to it, and the OBD port dongle.
    It ran through the connection.
When I click on the ECU reflash, I only have my vehicle details, no Reflash data which is inconsistent with the video. (#1).
Questions I have, do we have the ignition on or off?
When BAS talk of a new ECU, is this a factory new part, or the one that they supplied me?
When I try to start the car, there is nothing, and I need it tomorrow morning. It's 3AM in England, so any informed guidance is really appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Ken

Ok, so the new ECU is the one he would have sent you. This needs to be installed in the vehicle first.

Your 170AB map needs to be loaded onto the "dongle" from the BAS RRC Updater software which you can download from the Bas website.

Install the updater software onto your pc/laptop/mac and then connect your "dongle" to the pc with the supplied USB cable.

This is just what I can remember off the top of my head right now. So I'm bound to be missing some steps.

I agree, the lack of step by step instructions is annoying.
If you go to the Help section of the BAS website you will find some instructions on the process.

Forgot to mention, the Help section is also where you find the BAS RRC Updater software to download.

    Ok...

Plug the dongle into your Mac.
Open the App on the Mac.
    Find device.
It should tell you there is an update.
Click flash (can't remember full details).

This will load the map files to your device.

Once done eject the dongle (close the App).

Now walk out to Defender Help: BAS Remap 170 Autobiography

    Plug in dongle.
    Turn ignition to ON
Make sure EVERYTHING is off (stereo, fan etc)
Open Phone/iPad app and connect to device.
    Navigate to ECU Flash
    Select Flash ECU
    'Follow on screen instructions'

    All should be good

    Thank you fellas.
This group is fantastic. That's the bit I was missing, I thought the map was already loaded onto the OBD dongle.
Ill get on to it, and thanks again.

Nope, even though I down load the flash file for the ECU, it's never there when I connect to the car.
Ill see if I can talk with Pete at BAS.
    Very frustrated!

It is here ken if you haven't found it already:

also there are two steps when connected to the connector
    1. To update the controller
    2. second to load the three different tunes to the controller

happy to webex with you if you are still stuck

I am also assuming you have supplied your car specific information to Peter for the files to be prepped for you to download.

    All sorted

Well, finished installing the 170 reflash at 930 last night, after a lot of messaging with Pete Bel.
Unfortunatly I thought the Ma- was loaded on the OBD tool, and screwed things up from there.
We eventually sorted it out, although I did research the process on the web site, I was confused by the layout of all the info and videos.
Sorted now, and it's a lovely state of tune. Very smooth, and I'm very happy.
Thanks for all the guidance fellas, I really appreciated the quick replies.
    Good on you.

    Ken
