Looking online i cant seem to find any anti squeal shims which you can purchase seperate. Looking at genuine pads kits they come with metal shims.
Yes this is very important too.
The aftermarket brake pad usually comes with shims. And what I did is remove the aftermarket shim and put on factory anti-squeal shim.
Sometimes the shim is glued on pretty good and I just rip it out
The factory anti-squeal shim has a present shape cutout in the middle

Through my efforts to stop the squealing, I've left aftermarket shims in; then tried removing them and using some of the anti-squeal products that are out there all with no success...
Last resort I forked out the money for new bosch rotors + OEM Pads that come with new pins/shims. After fitting them and test driving all was good until I went through some dirt tracks where the squeal has come back "slightly". back on the black top I still can get them to squeal but it is nowhere as bad or as often as it was previously.... I'm kinda hoping that our drive down to the VHC will see them bedding in better and the squeal disappearing totally.... well, I'm praying for that at least![]()
