The common response is to replace it with a bit of the correct size hose.
When I bought a full hose set for my D2 TD5 about 4 years ago a new one came in the kit so I fitted it to replace the bit of hose on my car.LOL

Hi all,
I've had a squeaking belt and just a slight smell of coolant, with no visible leaks last two weeks from my TD5 Def... Temp's been fine, coolant was slightly below were it would usually sit (at the moment approx 10mm under the cold mark on the exp-tank).
So basically I have just let it sit there for the last week or so (haven't had the time to go over all the hoses/fittings ...read this quote on another thread,Went to shed to checked mine, gave it a little wiggle and it popped off in my hand, must have had a crack.
Now how do I fix it?... Is there a replacement part for this?...(just the neck not the radiator.)or do i need to tap a thread and screw a custom fab item in its place?
pm'd Jim but no response yet...so just thought i'd post and see if its happened to anyone else and how they fixed.
Any/all help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

						SubscriberSo you have broken off the nipple.
There was a thread on here Last week AFAIR on what some have done to fix this.
It includes plastic welding with a nylon zip tie, or drilling and tapping the tank and fitting a brass nipple , and I think using the magic stuff called Q Bond to strengthen the tank where the brass nipple has been screwed in. I have some Q bond and it is good stuff.

						SupporterI've seen someone do this to one of our work ute radiators and tried to do a quick fix tapping a fitting into it. Didn't last long and cracked again in the housing.
All I can say is if it doesn't work and you end up getting a new radiator might be worth getting a custom one made full copper.
After a closer inspection, i dont believe the wall is thick enough in my opinion to tap a thread and have piece of mind while out in the sticks with missus and youngster on board.
I'll just have to take the hit and buy new rad.
