So does the car have an AS10 ECU as well?
As the title says, what’s my options......
The short of the long......I purchased a td5inside NNN ECU to replace the earlier ECU in my defender. I tried to do the swap (there is a thread) but it wouldn’t work, advice in the thread and Jose didn’t help or get it up and running for more than a few seconds.
I booked the defender in a local Laundy repairer and they managed to get the ECU to run the defender but every time they turned the defender off it would only fire and run for a few seconds, after making some adjustments to security (from memory) it would run and drive fine until turned off than back to nothing. They had another TD5 in the workshop and tried the ECU in it and it worked fine.
Jose had offered to send another ECU but nothing has arrived.
The defender is an ex-army TD5, could it have been delivered with a different setup, one theory is something has been done so the army could change ECU’s in the field without the use of a nanocom or other device......given it only has one ECU I don’t understand what could be different...security setup or immobilizer???? But would this be all in the ECU.
Given the issue presented local re-programmers are hesitant to open up the earlier type of ECU (which they recommend is the best way to go) to remove security and immobilizer as it tricky???
The only thing I have tried is putting my current ECU into a TD5 to see if it starts without hooking a nanocom to it.
One option is to sell the NNN ECU to recoup some of my outlay and be content with the ECU that I have that’s currently running the car.
Back to banging my head against the wall.....nearly 12 months has elapsed so I’m about to give up.

Oh bit more info
2000 TD5 hardtop
From factory
No ABS or Traction Control
There is an engine kill button thingy in the engine bay and it does work.
No air-con
Ok if you are using a Nanocom can you see the AS10 ecu?
It is located behind the dash instruments (speedo and gauges) and from memory is bolted to the firewall and its green I think it says AS10 on it
Maybe the military didnt have an AS10 in which case the ecu will be need to be altered to use it on that vehicle Jose will know what to do
The AS10 is the security ecu
Hi i have a MSB101330 ecu out of an 2001 discovery 5 speed manual , your welcome to try for the cost of the postage if you can find out it will fit and work.
