Many moons ago a mechanic mate of mine did it in his drive way......
The seal is a crush type (somebody will explain it better)
We marked the position of the nut with a centre punch, a mark on the nut and one on the diff housing.
Used a rattle gun to remove the nut, replace the seal, used rattle gun to do the nut up, he went slightly past the centre punch marks, didn’t leak for the remaining 200000km that I had the defender.
