Thread: Sill tank filler options for a Hardtop

IMG_1536.jpgY filler that will replace the OEM filler for a offside ST (I have a spare one). so you will end up with OEM + ST with this arrangement

IMG_1144.jpg This is my solution for my ST as I have acquired a front runner gravity feed tank as well.

Mine is filled via a pipe plumbed off the original filler - must be common. Changeover by solenoid and drainback isn't altered . Just run the motor car from full from the aux for 450km and changeover before it's empty

Refill both from the same fill point.

This system on my County has been trouble free for ever

All a lot simpler than the Pollak valve set up our dual tank Perentie which requires a seperate filler Pollak 6 Port Fuel Valve Motorised 42-159 Dual Fuel Tanks – Scintex Australia.

I understand that the Pollak valve system is used extensively on the big American utes/trucks

It will be a water tank first.......

Yep across fitting a Y piece for when I switch to diesel. I will also need a transfer pump as I have a TD5 which has an in tank pump.

The changeover solenoid is this something u sourced? If so, I'd be keen to find where from as I would like something similar for my Sill Tank.

Does the Defender fuel Tanks just have 2 feds? One to the Motor and One Return back from the motor? On one of my very old 4WD's I had a similar setup where I had a 6 port Electric Tap where I would just switch to use fuel from Aux Tank & also the return line drain back into the Aux Tank - This is what I'd like on my Sill tank setup....

Is there somewhere in your Side Box that u could install a Water Filler? If u are going to convert to a Fuel later on, I would have thought u don't really want an "unused" water filler being seen, so if u can hide it somewhere I would think would be better + it's got to be in a place free from getting caked up with mud/dirt too I would think?

You might be able to replace one of your bolt in floor panels, get a new one made with hole for water hose, then hide it with a floor mat. When you go to diesel you can unbolt it and put the original one back. cheers Mark

The army 6x6 has a change over valve operated by a switch on the dash therefore there would a land rover part number.

I’m sure someone has details where to buy them off the shelf.

These are the pollak valve described in post #3 above - much cheaper to purchase it from Scintex than LR
