I would just call Shannon’s, they go out of there way to assist and ask every question, some I had not thought of, very good to deal with.

    try Club 4x4 too

Hi, no harm in trying Club 4x4 also--I have my puma 130 and MUX with them and set max car value then added all the extras and much cheaper than say normal ones like NRMA etc. Also have my rebodied stage one ambulance with coils, discs, pas etc and all they wanted were some photos to see what on earth it was and went comprehensive when Classic NRMA refused to cover it as 'I used it for camping' yet NRMA Classic very good for my Game --as I don't use it for camping!

Also of course try Shannons and then decide.

RACQ, but we have several insurances for vehicles and houses with them, so it's hard to compare with a single policy.

I enquired with RACQ some time ago (years) and at the time anyway they would NOT cover for off-road work. Only if it was a designated roadway would it be covered. Not much use for 4wd in the forests etc eh.

If you want agreed value Shannon's seem the most helpful but you pay for it
Seems the older the vehicle more the premium goes down but they have a monthly pay option
    eg MY 66 2a 88 agreed value 15k $240......MY 13 130 agreed value $60k $850
Market value sucks for Series or Defenders you've got to buy back into the market.....especially with Pumas

Freaking Club 4x4 want photos and full lists of values of accessories etc before they will quote.
What a PITA given that some of the stuff I need insurance for actually isn't mounted to the vehicle just at the moment....

Also waiting for Shannons to contact me back.

See what deal they offer if you put up a package of vehicles and house and contents insurance. Before you ring use the online calculators on several insurance sites. Then ring up the lowest and ask for a better deal. Then ring the next lowest and see if they will beat the best one. Etc.
Also play around with with the numbers in the policies.
We just saved $250 on the premium for our house contents by haggling.

I've just insured my new (to me) Defender '99 130 TD5 with Shannons for an agreed value equal to the purchase price of $16.5k. Cost a bit (approx $900), but seeing I had to borrow some cash to buy it, having comprehensive insurance was a no-brainer. Rang Club 4x4, they were the same as all the other insurers and would only offer a max agreed value of about $10k based on redbook values.

    So I've gone from

Affinity Insurance Brokers. Agreed value $14,274 (odd number) incl accessories, annual premium is $1,293.

    to

Shannons. Agreed value $23,000 incl accessories, annual premium $648.

So I count that as a win.
