Axle Weight of stock puma 110

    Folks

My stock rear springs are inadequate and I am looking at Dobinsons springs for all 4 corners whilst at it, How do I go about it. My thinking is current weight - Stock weight = rating idea of the new spring.

    Note:
I want to stick to standard height
GVM upgrade is an option if you have done it, i will appreciate your guidance.

    Many Thanks,
    Punyalok

A popular option is inner air bags....these give you a softer ride when empty and than you can use them to level the car when loaded.

I’m not aware of anybody doing a GVM upgrade in Australia.

If doing all springs I’d talk to Les Richmond Automotive LRA?? I think that there name. They seem to have a very good understanding of springs in land rovers.

Fitting 110HT (130 front) is a good option for up front. I’ve just done this, it will get your front back to standard and maybe a touch more.

Rears, I removed the springs 100% and have fitted air springs.

    Thanks

    thanks mate
I spoke with airbagman folks and the airbag helper is not suited for my use case i am told

That said how do the air springs workout for you?

I am getting the rear of my truck permanently kitted out withdraw/storage bins including a third battery and it will be heavy pushing @1350 kg on the rear axle easily

The Airbag Man helpers in the rear of our 110 work great. We tow a camper.

You might find useful information about Defender springs in the Britpart catalogue. There is a section on standard height HD springs. Lifted and stan dard height springs have different ratings.

    This thread might also help:

    Upgrading 110 Front Springs

    Hope that helps.

I’m puzzle that they said they are not suited.....there business revolves around correcting suspension.

    Why was there suggestion?

I was in there office last week and there were two customers prepping the rig for a lap around Australia (meaning fully loaded all the time) and didn’t hear them once indicated they didn’t have a solution.

I had them in my old defer....it was fully kitted out minus cloths, food and water....add air when loaded.

Air springs is by far the best mod I have done, main reason was so we could level up.....we have a Poptop, nonneed to carry leveling ramps or need level ground.....and I reckon there has been an improvement in ride.

I have the same setup hence question. How mush for the setup and how do you control the air suspension? You able to share your setup details pls. I am heading upto qld for a 3wk 6k trip, so trying to get the suspension right.

I started a tread on my install.....don’t knowing I finished it.

Er, cannot remember what I paid, I opted for airbag man as it cone in a kit..other have sourced all there parts and saved some dollars.

Control is done by two paddle switches at the centre console. I might have to move these when I have it assessed for blue plate.
