Looks like the clip to hold the rod from the slave cylinder to the fork in the bell housing

    2003 build.
Should I be worried? Or can I leave it and replace it down the line?

Worried hell no only if the push rod falls out which it shouldn`t

They are mainly there to keep the rod in place when fitting motor to gear box assemblys together

It also holds the rod in place if you have to change the slave cylinder , So be careful in that department

No its not the slave push rod retaining clip...

It is actually the clip that retains the clutch release fork to the centre pivot used on the TD5 with a cast release fork.
    *It looks bent and damaged.
*There is ment to be a retaining bolt that goes through the small hole.

*Well if its a TD5 my guess is the rear main seal has gone, eventually it will contaminate the clutch and need replacing.
*The fork retaining clip is there to keep the fork in place if/when the slave is removed or when fitting engine to gearbox etc.
*If its all working fine at the moment, then no big concern.

    Thanks for replying.
The last time I had the starter motor out it was full of water. I never heard or felt anything.

Could it be the leaky sump gasket?
