Fuel Cap Gasket

Solved this problem many years ago by cutting the fuel cup seal shape from a cork sheet. The cork isn't affected by the fuel solvents.
Easily done by using a pair of compasses to measure and draw the inner circle and outer one

Still in its place after so many years.

I've used this for a jerry can cap that I had problems getting a seal on.
Nitrile Cork Sheet - 300mm x 214mm x 1.5mm A4 SIZE SEAL JOIN FREE POST | eBay

used for diesel and has been in service for at least 2 years without any problems. I think your rubber problem might be that they have given you natural rubber. Neoprene is OK to good and Nitrile is generally listed as Good to Excellent.

Ahhh, that makes sense. I was a bit surprised when it started to deteriorate so soon. Thanks for the link, that makes it easy. Just ordered a sheet

A quick follow up, I’ve cut a new seal from neoprene cork and it’s working a treat. No diesel dribbles
