Ashcroft r380 approx price Inc. Install + freight

As the title says I'm after a recent price to buy, import and install (into a defender) an ashcroft r380 as I am weighing up importing one vs getting a reco done locally. Also if you have an ashcroft, any comments on quality?

I had a short bellhousing r380 imported from ashcroft, and installed behind my 200tdi some years ago, think it was 7 and a bit grand, i can look it up if you like though it was some years ago, didnt do huge ks on it but absolutly no probs. Dont use the 200tdi much now as i bought a tdci 130 as a camper.

Did you ever get your gearbox? How did it go? I just spoke with Ashcroft, and it would be about $2500-$2600 for the R380 (long stick(Defender) and upgrade bearings), freight, import duty and GST. Installation would be about 5-6 hours labour, but haven't figured out which way to go with the installation yet, though.

I just imported a R380 with the HD 5th gear bearing and the V8 5th gear ratio. I think, it was approx. $2600 for the gearbox, $500 for freight and about $400 duties & customs fees through TNT (not itemised!). I haven't installed the box yet, but was lead to believe that it is approx. 6h labour.
I had massive problems with TNT to the point where I did not get notified of the box sitting in customs as they completely messed up the delivery address AND name. I would highly recommend using DHL instead if possible.

    Cheers Joachim
