    Engine

Although my Ford Ranger isn't a Defender it shares many commonalities.

One it shares is the engine / gearbox gearchange engine over run control.

At my 50k service a couple of weeks ago I had an indy service it and he went into the ECU and took out the overrun control .

Completely different car now, it changes gears just like every other car in the past , foot off revs drop change clutch out without thinking about it.

The gear ratios seem to make more sense now as you work up and down the box especially out bush on the tracks , especially on down changes.

    Recommended simple fix.

I can't comment on the nanocom, I guess if you know the code you can do it.

It was a simple freebee at my local indy , who happen to be Walkinshaw agents as well.

They can also write the ecu to give 170kw as in the Jaguar version of the engine.

Do they recommend running the 170HP tune with standard I/C? Bas says it's not a great idea in hot weather.

I didnt follow it up De Bruiser, the young fella at the servicecentre told me enthusiastically. I think its 170kw not hp. I dont know the Jaguar specs,
I think they may have already stopped using the 2.2

    Damn.
I hated the throttle on my old work BT50, wish I had've known about that change.
I also hated the "no, I won't let you blip the throttle as you try and double de-clutch on the downchange..."
    I really, really hated that.
It took a fair old rewire in the noggon to not double de-clutch and just blip on the down shift. The ECU was happy with that. The double synchro's are so damned good it just flew through anyway.
